New York Convention Bourse Features 100

A bourse area consisting of 100 world and ancient numismatics specialists will fill the 18th floor of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel for the 38th Annual New York International Numismatic Convention when it opens to the public Jan. 8-10.

Bourse activities kick off Jan. 7 with a Professional Preview from 2-7 p.m. For a $100 registration fee, payable on site, Professional Preview attendees will have access to the bourse area prior to the regular public admission hours. It is open to both collectors and dealers without booths.

Regular public bourse hours run 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 8-9, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 10.

In all, 12 different dealers, either singly or in collaborative efforts, will be contributing to the NYINC 2010 auction presentations, which will take place over a span of eight consecutive days. Among the participating firms are Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers; Gemini Numismatic Auctions, LLC; Numismatik Lanz in association with Numismatica Bernardi S.R.L.; Freeman & Sear; Classical Numismatic Group; The New York Sale, a joint venture of Baldwin’s Auctions, Ltd; M&M Numismatics; Fritz Rudolf Kuenker and Dmitry Markov; and Ponterio and Associates, Inc. In addition, dealer George Frederick Kolbe will conduct a numismatic literature sale.

Auction lot viewing will open on Jan. 2, and auction sessions will be held Jan. 3-9.

The convention will also include a range of educational programs and meetings. Among the groups scheduled to meet on Sat., Jan. 9, are the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild, the Association of Dedicated Byzantine Collectors, the Classical and Medieval Numismatic Society, and the Society for Ancient Numismatics. A program for Young Numismatists is set for the same day.

Public admission is $10 for a three-day pass valid throughout the event. Children 16 and under with an adult are admitted for free. A $5 admission discount coupon valid Friday through Sunday may be printed online at www.nyinc.info/coupon.php.
