Big Changes in Mintages Since Spring
 | By Numismatic News November 12, 2009 |

Updated mintage numbers for 2008 gold and silver American Eagles and gold Buffalo coins as obtained from the U.S. Mint show some breathtaking revisions since the last sales numbers were posted in the spring.
Two tables are presented. The first contains totals with the asterisks. They are numbers as they last appeared in Numismatic News at the end of March.
The asterisks were put on the totals as each sales option went off sale.
It is normal for a certain amount of fluctuation as accounts are finalized but compare the current quarter ounce American Eagle gold proof total of 6,360 to a last reported 15,229.
The half ounce platinum proof went in the other direction. The last number is 1,759 as compared to 1,056.
