When the Andrew Jackson First Spouse gold coins go on sale at noon Eastern Time Aug. 28, collectors will have an opportunity to purchase a Capped Bust Liberty design used during the Jackson Administration because the seventh President of the United States was a widower during his two terms of office.

This is the second coin in the series that features a historical numismatic design. The first was for Thomas Jefferson. The next one will be in three month's time for Martin Van Buren.

What is not known at press time is what the issue price will be.

The Louisa Adams and Elizabeth Monroe half-ounce gold pieces are priced at $619.95 for the proof and $599.95 for the uncirculated. Will the Mint set the price for the Jackson coins at the same levels or adjust them?

Dolley Madison coins are still being offered for the lower issue price of $529.95 and $509.95, respectively.

The mintage limit is expected to stay the same, 40,000, with the breakdown between the two versions as collector purchases dictate. It could be 30,000 proofs and 10,000 uncirculateds if that's how buyers want it.

It was only because of the rapid sellouts of the Martha Washington, Abigail Adams and Thomas Jefferson pieces that the mintages broke down at 20,000 apiece between the proof and uncirculated versions.

Sellouts have become a thing of the past. Jackson will be the fourth one to be offered simultaneously. Mintages are steadily declining. Louisa Adams has sold just 4,379 proofs and 2,500 uncirculateds.

Watch the Mint's Web site at www.usmint.gov for posting of pricing information, or telephone (800) USA-MINT on opening day or afterwards.
