Mint Stats: American Eagle Asterisk Slips Off the Total
By David C. Harper
December 06, 2007

The asterisk was removed from the "W" uncirculated silver American Eagle coins. The totals are rising again. The coin appears in a new dollar coin set introduced just two days before this column was written. It will be interesting to see how popular the set might be.

Even with the explosion in the number of new products, it is nice to see weekly sales strength in plain vanilla uncirculated coin sets. This week's number jumped 37,359 to 718,614.

The Dolley Madison First Spouse gold coin has not yet sold out. Sales as of Dec. 2 were 11,631 proofs and 8,017 uncirculateds. The combined mintages cannot exceed 40,000.
