After 10 months on the job, the American Numismatic Association board of governor’s terminated executive director Jeff Shevlin in April.
Officially, the decision not to extend his one-year contract was announced April 26.
On May 1 the board announced that longtime staffer Kim Kiick was given the position on a one-year renewable contract that could run up to three years.
After lengthy search processes to hire Shevlin and Larry Shepherd before him, ANA President Tom Hallenbeck said the board decided to act quickly this time to fill the executive director’s position because “Kim was a semi-finalist before. I believe we found the right person.”
A telephone meeting was held by the board April 30. The decision to give Kiick the job was unanimous, Hallenbeck said.
Kiick has had previous experience in the position, Hallenbeck pointed out. She was interim executive director August 2011 to June 2012.
She was most recently the ANA director of operations.
Kiick first joined the ANA staff in 1982 at headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. Her career there has included the positions of executive assistant to executive director Edward C. Rochette, associate executive director of operations, membership and information technology operations manager and senior administrative manager.
