This week's featured coin is a piece from the country's Prehistoric Animals series. This particular coin depicts the Apatosaurs, more commonly known as the Brontosaurus.
The Apatosaurs is a Jurrasic era dinosaur that lived over 150 million years ago. It is one of the largest animals to ever roam the earth, with a length of over 75 feet and a weight of 50,000 pounds. In the United States fossils of this animal have been found in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
The obverse of the coin shows the Cuban national arms within a wreath, whe the denomination below. The reverse shows an image of a stylized Apatosaurus.
